In September 2009 we realized a dream: Maltstock! For the first time whisky enthusiasts from five different countries gathered together for an entire weekend of whisky fun. Relaxed was the word!

Visitors brought whisky to share with others (which was a great succes). Some very nice independent bottlers and some great distilleries were present. People who form the whisky industry came from Scotland especially for Maltstock: Jim McEwan (Bruichladdich), Billy Walker (BenRiach/Glendronach), David Wilson (Glencadam), Gary Taylor (Speyside Cooperage). But also the painter Ian Gray and the writer Robin Brilleman were present as well as Jeroen Koetsier and Arno Borsboom with their fantastic collection of whisky.

Highlights of the 2009 program were the free masterclasses, the famous whisky quiz with lot's of prices and a Worst Whisky Index (won by the Glenforres). Of course Maltstock provided the visitors with plenty of food and drinks. Saturday we started early with a detox walk through the woods and the moors around Maltstock. We wanted our visitors to catch some fresh air before the masterclasses started. After the masterclasses live music was playing while the visitors lined up for the BBQ. At night a big campfire was lit and Jim McEwan and Billy Walker told us some personal stories.

Most important was that everybody had a terrific time. Visitors experienced Maltstock as it was intended: fun & relaxed. People sended us e-mails and put their stories on blogs and forums on the internet. Because we had such a good time and so many positive reactions, we decided to do it again in 2010! For those who missed the first edition we added a few of the many positive reactions we received on the website. You will also find some reviews written by a couple of Maltstock visitors. But for a really good impression you have to check the pictures on the website. You can view them by clicking here.
